THIS DEMOCRAT JUST ADMITTED HE WANTS TO ABOLISH THE FIRST AMENDMENT!

I travel a lot and in that traveling you hear a heck of a lot of different opinions about everything. I suppose that there are some things that your headphones just cannot cancel out.

That being said, the thing that makes our country so great is the fact that you can say whatever is on your mind and if you are not directly causing harm to someone or threatening them you can say whatever you want.

I like pineapples on my pizza, there are some that would see me hanged for that but they would have to begrudgingly accept that it is my right to say what I just said.

Furthermore, in my travels I have attended a lot of MLB games and at one of them last season I was stuck a row behind a couple that were talking endlessly in a negative fashion about Donald Trump.

Now, some of our more animated brethren would have me jump up and make their poor attempt at political humor the hill that I would choose to die on. I let it slide. For one, while the comment annoyed the living hell out of me it was not causing me direct physical harm. Secondly, they are in what is generally considered a public place and not being a disturbance to anyone else. As a military veteran I wold be a hypocrite to tell them to shut up even though I seriously wanted to.

There are some people in office that would want neither me, you, the Hillary supporter or the guy that thinks a hot dog is a sandwich to be able to say that without threat of prosecution.

H/T Daily Wire:

California Democrat Rep. Ted Lieu admitted on Wednesday that he wants to censor free speech, but he can’t because the First Amendment prevents him from doing so.

Lieu made the remarks while speaking on CNN about Google CEO Sundar Pichai’s recent testimony before Congress about the issue of political bias in Google’s search algorithm.

“The CEO of Google, Sundar Pichai, testifying before your committee about a number of concerns,” CNN host Brianna Keilar said. “You took an opportunity to push back on Republican claims of bias in Google searches. In the middle of this hearing you Googled Republican Steve Scalise, you Googled after that Republican Steve King to show that there were favorable stories, including from conservative outlets about Scalise, negative coverage of King, and you made the point essentially, that’s not because of a Google algorithm, it’s because of what these members do and say.”

“I will say, it was — it was clever. It caught some attention,” Keilar continued. “But I wonder, have you thought that maybe you and other Democrats have missed opportunities to use your time to press Google’s CEO at a time when these large tech companies are struggling to manage content perpetuating conspiracy theories, they’re so vulnerable to outside interference? Isn’t that a focus that could have been a missed opportunity?”

“So it’s a very good point you make,” Lieu responded. “I would love if I could have more than five minutes, to question witnesses. Unfortunately, I don’t get that opportunity.”

“However, I would love to be able to regulate the content of speech,” Lieu continued. “The First Amendment prevents me from doing so. And that’s simply a function of the First Amendment. But I think over the long run, it’s better that government does not regulate the content of speech.”

Lieu then suggested that the tech companies should do a better job of censoring free speech.

  • It is members of congress, such as Mr. Lieu , Maxine Waters, Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer and others like them that is exactly why the founding fathers wrote the Constitution and wrote it with the wording they did. They knew a day would come when members of government would want to do the very things they want to do these days . They knew this would happen, and they were so right. One could say that what they knew was simply amazing men, inspired by god himself. At this point Americans need to tell our elected members of Congress, to stop with all the bullshit on trying to control everything Americans do, and do the jobs they were elected to do by the people, or resign.

  • I AM SURPRISED THERE ARE NOT MORE PEOPLE CONDEMNING THIS STUFF. ALSO THE DEMOCRATS WANT TERM LIMITS NOW SO THEY CAN HAVE THE MAJORITY IN CONGRESS WITH THE NEWLY ELECTED ONES. I WONDER IF PELOSI AND SCHUMER REALIZE OUT THEY GO!!!!
