A high school band director in Texas allegedly threatened to kill himself if his female student went public with their relationship or once his wife finds out.
Brian Drake, an employee at Cypress Creek High School, was reportedly arrested Friday after local police received a tip that he had engaged in a sexual relationship with a student during the 2015/2016 school year.
According to an official investigation, the tip included a voicemail in which the 35-year-old man allegedly threatened suicide in order to keep the victim silent.
It started when the local police was notified by someone who found sexually explicit text messages and a disturbing voicemail in the girl’s phone in September.
In the voicemail, Drake threatened to commit suicide if the student reported the relationship to anyone because he did not want his wife to find out, according to the police report.
” I am going to buy a gun and I’m going to blow my (expletive) brains out. Okay? And that will be your fault, a hundred percent,” he said, according to the official court documents.
The student, who was a senior at the time, initially denied the romance but is now working with authorities for investigation.
According to the reported documents, Drake and the teen allegedly had sex in the parking lot of Houston Northwest Church, at her parents’ home and at his house while his wife was away.
Police found messages that were sent by Drake during his sexual encounter with the student of Cypress Creek High School in 2015.
The victim told investigators that she and Drake tried to keep the alleged romance a secret and would refer to their tryst as “Operation Brian Drake keeps his job.”
Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District said in a statement that it was “deeply concerned” over the allegations and Drake was removed from school grounds, the record reports.
“Law enforcement conducted a full investigation, leading to the arrest of the suspect,” it read. “We fully support the swift prosecution of anyone caught violating student safety.”
Drake was charged with improper relationship with a minor and was released on bail.
