Man Sets Himself On Fire While Waiting In Line At Bank [WATCH]
Millions of dollars in total damages when a man identified as Nur Islam sets himself on fire on Commonwealth Bank in Springvale.
According to police, Islam is from Myanmar who is in the country.
A man in Australia allegedly set himself on fire because the line was too long.
Due to the long time on waiting, Islam became stressed because there were still many people ahead of him in line.
CCTV footage showed Islam walks to a nearby gas station and bough $14.71 worth of gasoline, said by the police.
Islam then took out a lighter and set himself on fire.
The fire spread and burned the bank down, 14 employees and 23 customers were inside the bank.
26 people were treated for burns, police said.
Islam survived. According to his attorney, Islam spent four months in the hospital with burns to 60 percent of his body.
After being released from the hospital, Islam was arrested.
He is set to stand on trial for 108 charges that include intentional arson, causing serious injury and property damage.
The court heard that the bank was destroyed, causing close to $3 million in damages. Islam told the court that he did not intend to hurt anyone.
