Stevie Wonder Responds To Donald Trump’s Words With A Protest Of His Own [VIDEO]

It looks like Colin Kaepernick’s protest has spread to other areas other than Football. After Donald Trump remarked that NFL owners should fire anyone who kneels for the National Anthem, Stevie Wonder decided to make a stand of his own at a concert Saturday night.

Grammy-award winning musician Stevie Wonder took two knees Saturday night at the Global Citizen Festival after President Donald Trump slammed those who kneel for the national anthem.

Wonder told the crowd that before he would perform his songs, he was “taking both knees” in order to pray for the country.

“Tonight, I’m taking a knee for America,” he said on stage as his son helped him to kneel. “But not just one knee! I’m taking both knees.”

“Both knees in prayer for our planet, our future, our leaders of the world, and our globe,” Wonder declared as the audience applauded and cheered. “Amen.”

Wonder’s kneeling comes after President Trump encouraged NFL owners to fire players who won’t stand for the national anthem. Wonder did not kneel during the national anthem, but the timing of the move seemed to signal solidarity for that effort.

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, he’s fired!’” Trump exclaimed at his rally in Alabama on Friday night. “He’s fired!”
