A 19-year-old suffering from a brain tumour was manhandled and bloodied by TSA agents at Memphis International Airport before being led away in handcuffs.

A teen suffering from a brain tumor was bloodied after TSA Agents at Memphis International Airport shoved her before being led away in handcuffs.

The incident happen when Hannah Cohen was on her way home after receiving treatment for her brain tumor at St. Jude Hospital, according to WREG.

The metal detector went off as she walked through a security checkpoint. Shirley, Hannah’s mother said, “They wanted to do further scanning,” Shirley added, “She was reluctant, she didn’t understand what they were about to do.”

Shirley tried to explain Hannah’s condition to the TSA agents, but they refused to listen. Hannah is blind in one eye, partially deaf, partially paralyzed and easily confused.

“She’s trying to get away from them but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor,” Shirley said. “There was blood everywhere.”

Hannah was arrested and taken into jail.

“Here we were with nowhere to go, not even a toothbrush, our bags had gone [back home] to Chattanooga,” Shirley said.

The charges against Hannah were eventually dropped, but the family filed a federal lawsuit against the Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority and the TSA for damages that include pain, medical expenses, personal and emotional injury, and embarrassment, according to WREG.

In response, the TSA released the following statement:

“Passengers can call ahead of time to learn more about the screening process for their particular needs or medical situation.”

Thousands of people missing flights due to excessively long security lines after TSA increased their inspection in recent years.

In May, Kelly Hoggan was removed from his position as the TSA’s head of security operations, according to The Associated Press.
